About Us

Welcome to the Gambia-Italian Association of Students and Researchers (GIASR)! Established in 2022 in Bologna, Italy, with formal registration both in Italy and in The Gambia, GIASR is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Gambian students, researchers, and professionals in Italy and beyond.

 

GIASR aims to alleviate the challenges and obstacles faced by Gambians abroad particularly in Italy through three main programs: -a) general research, b) social inclusion, and c) developmental projects. We conduct evidence-based research, community engineering and creative engagement with relevant stakeholders to influence policy-making in both The Gambia, Italy and the EU. Additionally, we work to foster social integration for Gambians in Europe and implement projects aimed at socioeconomic development in our communities in The Gambia and in Italy.Join us in our efforts to make a positive impact! Mission

GIASR is dedicated to fostering collaboration, support, and empowerment among Gambian students, researchers and other professionals in The Gambia, Italy and beyond. We provide a platform for networking, advocacy, and resource-sharing to address critical and pressing issues such as: scientific and social education, evidence based research, sustainable agriculture, sports, women empowerment, forced migration, poverty, disease prevention, hunger, and climate action for a sustainable future. By partnering with regional, governmental, non-governmental, and international entities, we strive to implement sustainable solutions and promote holistic development for our community and beyond
