President : Sulayman Bah
He holds an Msc in Legal Studies, Bologna University. Speaks Italian and English fluently with excellent writing skills. He possesses an in-depth knowledge of software tools connected to Office. Very passionate about reading and research.
Serves as the President of this noble association and the Vice president of the Gambian Association in Bologna, Italy. By extension, he serves as the focal person for the execution of official duties including drafting and reviewing legal documents of the said associations.
Ebrima Jaw, Vice President
Mr. Ebrima Jaw is the current vice president of GAISR, he holds a master’s degree in comparative law, economics, and finance. He bagged his master’s in 2019 from The International University College of Turin, Italy after winning a scholarship offered by the university. His education career is centered on economics as he holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics first class (magna cum laude) from the University of The Gambia in the years 2014 – 2018. Ebrima currently lives and works in Italy as a project manager with the European Research Institute, a non-profit organization in Turin. Mr. Jaw has more than 3 years of experience in developing and implementing projects that are geared towards socio-economic, and environmental development in Europe and beyond.

Alagie Jinkang, Secretary
Alagie Jinkang, PhD, is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of the Arts University of Bologna. Since 1 April 2023 he works within the European Union Project ERC “Hostile Environments: The Political Ecology of Migration and Border Violence – CUP J33C22002820006”, Grant agreement No ID: 101042338. His research focuses on: Illegal fishing, Overfishing and Border Violence in Senegambia (The Gambia and Senegal).
He has been a postdoctoral researcher within the H2020 project Perceptions: Perceptions: Understand the Impact of Novel Technologies, Social Media, and Perceptions in Countries
Abroad on Migration Flows and the Security of the EU & Provide Validated Counter Approaches, Tools and Practices https://project.perceptions.eu/.
His research interests cut across Human rights & immigration law, Humanitarian aid organizations, Decent work and exploitation in the workplace, Social issues in border management and migration, Labour rights of TCNs, African & Afro-American studies, Journalism & media in migration, West African migrations and remittances, Welfare of First-line practitioners

Omar Marong, Asst. Public Relation Officer
Omar Marong is a self-volunteer living in Naples. Currently the Assistant PRO of GIARS. Omar has been in Italy for a decade after crossing the Sahara, the desert and the Mediterranean Sea to realize his dreams of studies. Omar in December 2022 graduated from the University of Naples Federico II and defended his thesis on the economic history of the Gambia before and after independence. Omar is pursuing a master’s degree course in International Relations at the university of Naples, a co-founder of What’s on Italy, CEO of creative Minds Association The Gambia and also a cultural mediator. Omar works on the topic of immigration, inclusion, and integration in schools by talking to students and sharing his experience within the Sahara Desert and the mediterranean sea.

Alpha Sallah, Treasurer
Alpha was born and raised in the Gambia, and he is Italian-Gambian.
He resides in Italy, and has been collaborating with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) as a staff member since May 2019. He is also an expert in the field of labor exploitation. Some of his responsibilities are to adequately inform and raise awareness among migrant workers about the risks associated with labor exploitation and provide protection mechanisms for victims.He is currently pursuing a three-year degree at the University of Pisa (ALICE), and he is currently studying political and social sciences in his final year
